I am a school teacher, and in late September of 2004 my orthopedic surgeon  informed me that my right knee was completely worn out due to arthritis and  needed to be replaced.  I was in almost constant pain, especially at night. This pain caused me much difficulty in getting the sleep I needed.  Often  the pain woke me up several times at night.  I knew that I should go ahead and get it replaced, but doing so would cause me to miss most of the school year.  I needed something to stop the pain so I could get it replaced at my convenience.  I decided to try hypnosis.   I  must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first, but to my surprise the pain almost completely subsided after I started hypnosis.  I was able to sleep all night, and put off the surgery until April of 2005.  This gave my employer time to find a replacement for me for the remainder of the school year.  I recommend hypnosis for anyone with any type of chronic pain.
